This is the format for a standard plastic card. Bank cards, access cards, driving licences and printed staff ID are all 86 × 54 mm, and a 58 × 90 mm insert takes one portrait with roughly 4 mm to spare each way. If you are holding a card and wondering which pouch fits it, this is almost certainly the one. It sits close to the chest and does not swing, so it suits everyday staff wear better than the larger event formats.

The printing itself is quick. The time goes into getting the artwork right and having you approve the proof — the step that stops five hundred pouches being printed wrong.

This format is supplied portrait as standard, with the lanyard slot punched on the top edge. If you need it the other way round, say so with your specification and it will be reviewed — it is a change to the product rather than a rotation of the artwork.
How it compares to the other sizes
This is the smallest pouch in the range, and for a plastic card that is the point rather than a limitation. Put a card in a pouch built for a printed badge and it slides around inside, sits lower on the chest and swings more as the wearer moves. Step up to 85 × 110 mm when the pass has to carry a name and a role at readable size, or to 78 × 130 mm when a barcode has to sit below the name.
The mistake to avoid
Ordering this format for a printed badge instead of a card. Once you allow a print margin, 58 mm of width leaves very little room, so a name plus an organisation plus a logo ends up set too small to read across a room. Think of it as a card holder that hangs from a lanyard, not as a badge.
Branding this format
There is little pouch to print on at this size, and the card inside is usually already branded — so most orders here are plain pouches over a printed card. That also keeps the pouches reusable when staff change, so the reorder is a batch of cards rather than a batch of cards and pouches.
The lanyard to pair it with
The guidance is 10–15 mm, the narrowest in the range, because a wide lanyard on a 58 mm pouch looks like a mistake even though it works. Our standard branded lanyard is 20 mm, so if you want the narrower proportion, say so with the specification and it is confirmed on the quote rather than assumed.
